What is FFMI?

FFMI stands for Fat Free Body Mass Index, which allows users to calculate the amount of muscle mass based on their height. This index is used by bodybuilders to compare themselves to others. FFMI is also an alternative to BMI.

Formula: FFMI = (Fat-Free Mass in kg) ÷ (Height in meters)²

Fat-Free Mass: Your total body weight minus fat mass

Why FFMI Matters

Better than BMI : FFMI differentiates between muscle and fat, giving a clearer picture of body composition.

Progress Tracking: best suited in tracking muscle growth in fitness programs.

Health Assessment: Aids in determining people who have a low muscle mass, and they might be vulnerable to sarcopenia.

Fitness Goals:These can be used to set realistic muscle building objectives.
